Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ

Everything you need to know about QR Kuz and QR codes.

What is a QR Code?

A QR Code (Quick Response Code) is a two-dimensional barcode that stores information in a pattern of black and white squares. When scanned with a smartphone camera or QR reader app, it instantly decodes the embedded data — such as a website URL, WiFi password, business card, or payment link. QR codes can hold significantly more data than traditional barcodes and can be scanned from any angle.

Is QR Kuz really free?

Yes, QR Kuz is completely free. There are no hidden fees, no premium tiers, no credit card required, and no limits on how many QR codes you can create. Every feature — all 15+ QR code types, customization options, and high-resolution downloads — is available free forever. We serve minimal ads to cover operational costs, but nothing is locked behind a paywall.

Are QR codes permanent?

Yes, QR codes generated on QR Kuz are static and permanent. Once created, a static QR code never expires — the data is encoded directly into the pattern and will work as long as the QR code image exists. Unlike dynamic QR codes that depend on a URL redirect service, static QR codes have no ongoing costs and no dependency on a third-party server staying online.

What is the difference between static and dynamic QR codes?

Static QR codes encode data directly into the QR pattern itself. They cannot be changed after creation, are completely free, permanent, and require no ongoing service. Dynamic QR codes use a short URL that redirects to the final destination — the destination can be changed later, and scan tracking is often available. QR Kuz generates static QR codes, which means they're self-contained, free forever, and don't depend on any third-party service to function.

Are QR codes secure?

QR Kuz generates all QR codes entirely in your browser — nothing you type ever leaves your device. This makes the generation process as secure as possible. However, QR codes themselves can link to any URL, so always exercise caution when scanning codes from unknown sources. A QR code is like any other link — the security depends on where it points, not the code itself.

Can I customize my QR codes?

Yes! QR Kuz allows you to customize your QR codes by changing the foreground color, background color, and size. You can also adjust the error correction level, which determines how much damage the QR code can sustain while remaining scannable. This is useful if you plan to add a logo or print the QR code on surfaces that may get scratched.

What file formats can I download?

Currently, QR Kuz supports downloading QR codes as high-resolution PNG files. PNG files are ideal for both web and print use, offering lossless compression and excellent image quality. You can also copy QR codes directly to your clipboard for quick sharing.

How do I scan a QR code from my phone?

Most modern smartphones can scan QR codes directly from the built-in camera app. Simply open the camera, point it at the QR code, and tap the notification that appears. No separate app is needed for most devices. Alternatively, dedicated QR scanner apps are available for both iOS and Android. QR Kuz generates standard QR codes compatible with all QR readers.

Can I use QR codes for my business?

Absolutely! QR codes are widely used for business purposes — restaurant menus, product packaging, business cards, event tickets, marketing campaigns, WiFi access for customers, and more. QR Kuz is free for both personal and commercial use. There are no restrictions on how you use the QR codes you generate.

How do I create a WiFi QR code?

Creating a WiFi QR code is simple. Select 'Wi-Fi' from the QR type grid, enter your network name (SSID) and password, choose the security type (WPA/WPA2, WEP, or None), and check 'Hidden network' if applicable. When scanned, the QR code automatically prompts the user to join your WiFi network — no need to share passwords verbally or in writing.

Do I need to create an account to use QR Kuz?

No, QR Kuz requires absolutely no registration. You don't need to create an account, provide an email address, or share any personal information. Just open the website and start creating QR codes immediately. This is a core principle of our service — simplicity and privacy.

What types of QR codes can I create?

QR Kuz supports over 15 types: Website URL, Plain Text, Email (mailto), Phone Call, SMS, vCard (digital business card), WhatsApp message, WiFi network login, PDF link, App Store/Google Play link, Image link, Video link, Social Media profiles (Instagram, Facebook, X/Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, custom), Calendar Event, and Custom 2D Barcode data.

Can I add a logo to my QR code?

QR Kuz does not currently offer built-in logo overlay functionality. However, you can design your QR code with high error correction level (H), download it as PNG, and then overlay your logo using any image editing software. The high error correction allows the code to remain scannable even with a logo covering part of the pattern.

What happens if I lose my QR code image?

Since QR Kuz generates static QR codes and doesn't store your data, you need to keep a copy of the QR code image after downloading it. We recommend downloading and saving your QR codes immediately after creation. You can always recreate the same QR code by entering the same data again, but we advise keeping a backup of the generated image.

Is QR Kuz free from trackers?

QR Kuz uses minimal, anonymized analytics to understand aggregate page views and improve the website experience. We do not use tracking cookies that follow you across websites, and we do not sell or share your data with advertisers. The content you enter for QR code generation is never tracked or stored — it stays entirely within your browser.
